| introduction | N,N-dimethyl p-phenylenediamine hydrochloride is white to off-white crystalline powder, easy to absorb moisture. It gradually changes color when exposed to light and oxygen. Melting point 199 ℃. Easily soluble in water, ethanol, benzene and chloroform, slightly soluble in ether. Reacts with organic peroxides to produce purple-red products. |
| preparation | a preparation method of N,N-dimethyl-p-phenylenediamine hydrochloride, which comprises the following steps: (1) 1 mol of p-nitrochlorobenzene is dissolved in 400ml of toluene to obtain solution a; (2) 1.1 mol of dimethylamine hydrochloride is dissolved in 180ml of water, and solution a is added; (3) under stirring at 20~25 ℃, add 1.1 moles of 15% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution dropwise to the above solution, raise the temperature to 35 ℃, add 0.66 moles of 15% sodium hydroxide aqueous solution dropwise within 30 minutes, and then keep the temperature for 60 minutes; (4) standing still, phase separation, adding active nickel catalyst to toluene layer, hydrogenation reduction; (5) filtering separation catalyst; hydrogen chloride gas was introduced into toluene layer to obtain N,N-dimethyl p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride precipitation. (6) centrifugation to obtain 198g of N,N-dimethyl p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride with 99.7% content and 94.5% yield (calculated as p-chloronitrobenzene). |
| Use | Used as analytical reagent Used for colorimetric determination of hydrogen sulfide and sulfide and detection of vanadium, etc. Used for inspection and colorimetric determination of hydrogen sulfide, Sulfide; it can react with oxidant to form red in acidic solution, and is used as an indicator when chromate titrates barium salt; used for determination of vanadium; used to test oxidant with color reaction; used to verify chlorine, bromine, manganese and ozone (test paper) in the air; test oxidase in microscopic analysis; used to test acetone, uric acid, thallium salt, etc. |
